Timber a living product
 
Timber Movement - Timber products once assembled on site will continue to react to weather conditions due to the fibrous nature of the material Wood is a natural product and all trees are different with different properties. These properties can include, bowing, colour differences, warping, resin pouches, beam end cracks, slight discolouration, shakes, splits, knots, loose knots, knot holes and varying surface finishes and are part of the natural properties of this type of material. If you require a smoother finish you may wish to sand some of the timbers, but this is an individual choice. Shakes/Splits and similar are allowed for in the integrity of the timber and cannot be guaranteed against. Minor adjustments may have to be undertaken due to the nature of timber. Pre-drilled holes may require onsite adjustment if the timber has absorbed more moisture.
 
These are natural characteristics of wood and not faults within the manufacturing process. Photographs will be required in all cases of any potential defect before a refund would be accepted. It is unlikely that the natural traits of wood would be a reasonable reason for exchange or refund.
 
Log Cabins are a planed finished surface consequently there is less movement in the materials in the packaging. It must be noted that some adjustments to sections of timber may still have to be undertaken when assembling the cabin
 
The appearance of the natural properties of timber are not a reason for the return of goods and are not reasonable stating they are faulty in claiming a full refund.
 
Timber garden products are designed for external garden use only.

Timber Movement and Settlement

Please be reminded that timber is a natural product; it will have imperfections, cracks, warping and knot holes and knots. Also these products are supplied flat-packed for adult assembly (typically needing 2 people). Sizes shown throughout this website are approximations and should be interpreted as such.
 
Warping or Bowing- In the unlikely event that some of the timbers are warped or slightly bowed and prove difficult to assemble. We advise competent manipulation which could involved light wetting or sensible weight application and slowly, over a few hours or days if necessary, heating or cooling can overcome the majority of warping or slight bowing. Competent manipulation during the assembly of your cabin will also overcome the majority of warping or bowing
 
Ring Beam and floor bearers are generally pressure treated and do not require a coating.
 
Broken or damaged parts – These must be returned with the driver at point of delivery. If for any reason the goods are not required then we ask that you ask the delivery driver to cal us and if we are all n agreement the whole cabin is to be return and we will refund your money. There will be a delivery return charge to cover administration and the driver’s time.
 
In circumstances decided by us, we reserve the right not supply to supply a replacement or replacement parts as we are unable to guarantee that these will be any different from the original. In the unlikely event that we leave your cabin and you subsequently request that they are returned to us, unused, unassembled and in the condition they were delivered in. We can arrange to collect the items. There will be a charge made for this. In all circumstances the original packaging associated with the delivery must be retained and intact.
 
Wood Settlement
 
Your log cabin after assembly will need a few months to settle. The cabin walls will compress as the roof and wind loads are applied to them. Joints swill start to close and tighten. The moisture content of the clogs will also vary from season to season. The logs will expand and contract with season. This is normal. A good quality treatment will allow this to happen. We recommend you do not fix anything to the cabin during this process as it may restrict the settlement process.
